Read your checkout link stats

Alva Digital Downloads shows clicks, orders, revenue and conversion for every checkout link over the last 30 days. Bots are left out of clicks, and orders rejected by fraud checks are left out of orders and revenue.

Where the stats are

Checkout links lists every link with Clicks, Orders, Revenue and Conversion columns for the last 30 days. Open a link to see the same numbers in its Performance card, with a small chart of clicks per day, drawn in your store's time zone.

The Alva Digital Downloads home page also shows a checkout links card with your total clicks across every link in the last 7 days.

What counts as a click

A click is counted each time a person opens the link and is sent on towards checkout. It is not a count of unique visitors: the same buyer opening the link twice counts twice, and so do your own visits, including Test this link.

Bots are left out. Social and messaging apps fetch a link to build its preview card when it is shared, and those fetches are recognised and never counted. Visits while the link shows its “not available” page — expired, paused or not started yet — aren't counted either.

What counts as an order

An order counts when a buyer who arrived through the link pays for it. Alva Digital Downloads matches the order to the link from details your store carries through checkout, so in rare cases an order can't be traced back and isn't counted.

Orders rejected by fraud checks are left out of Orders and Revenue, and the link's Performance card says how many. Orders still waiting on a fraud review count in Orders, but their money stays out of Revenue until they are approved; a note says how many are waiting.

What revenue means

As the app puts it: “Revenue is what buyers paid at checkout. Refunds and cancellations are not deducted.” It is the whole order's total as paid, so it can include tax and anything else the buyer added to the cart. If orders were paid in more than one currency, the total is shown without a currency symbol.

What conversion means

Conversion is orders divided by clicks over the same 30 days. A link with no clicks shows a dash rather than 0%. A link with plenty of clicks and no orders is worth checking — open it and use Test this link to walk the buyer's path.

Why the numbers differ from Shopify

Shopify's reports count every order in your store. Checkout link stats count only orders placed through a link, over a rolling 30 days, without fraud-rejected orders and without deducting refunds. Both can be right at once; they answer different questions.

How long click history is kept

The per-click history behind these numbers is kept for 90 days and then deleted automatically. The stats screens show the last 30 days, so nothing you can see is affected.

Frequently asked questions

Do link previews on Instagram or WhatsApp count as clicks?

No. Social apps fetch a link once to build its preview card, and those fetches are recognised as bots and left out. Only people opening the link are counted.

Why doesn't my checkout link revenue match Shopify's reports?

Checkout link revenue covers only orders placed through the link in the last 30 days, leaves out orders rejected by fraud checks, and does not deduct refunds or cancellations.

Do my own test clicks count?

Yes. Opening the link yourself, including with Test this link, counts as a click, because the app can't tell you apart from a buyer.

I rejected an order for fraud, then turned the buyer's download access back on. Why is it still left out?

Checkout link stats follow the fraud decision, not download access. Turning access back on from the order page lets the buyer download again, but the order stays counted as rejected and out of orders and revenue.

Can I see stats for longer than 30 days?

No. The stats cover the last 30 days, and the click history behind them is deleted after 90 days.
