Alva Digital Downloads for template creators

Alva Digital Downloads is a Shopify app that lets template creators sell Notion, Figma, Canva, Webflow, and Framer templates direct to buyers — whether that's a downloadable file or a signed Notion duplicate link . When a template gets a v2, every past buyer's re-download automatically points to the new version. Split every template into personal vs commercial licence tiers with per-variant key pools, and run multi-brand catalogues from a single Shopify admin.

How a template creator's Shopify + Alva workflow actually runs.

09:20 · NEW TEMPLATE

Publish a Notion Life OS template.

Finish the template in Notion. Copy the public duplicate URL. Paste it into Alva's Links tab — Alva wraps it as a signed, IP-locked, expirable link. Buyers never see the raw Notion URL; each buyer gets a single-use access token that routes them to the Notion duplicate prompt.

09:35 · LICENCE TIERS

Split into personal vs commercial.

Create two Shopify variants — Personal ($29), Commercial ($79). Personal gets a licence pool that permits use inside one Notion workspace. Commercial gets a pool that permits use inside a client project or a team workspace. Each purchase pulls the next unused key from the matching pool.

15:40 · SHIP v2

Ship v2 — every past buyer gets it.

Creator rebuilds the template with a new dashboard section. Duplicates the updated Notion workspace, grabs the new URL, and replaces the link inside Alva for that product. Every past buyer's customer account page now surfaces v2 on their next visit. Existing buyers re-download without paying again — and the creator emails them to tell them it's there.

18:00 · NEW BRAND

Run a second Figma-templates brand.

Same Shopify store — different public brand. Alva's per-product email settings ship Figma-template delivery from files@figma-brand.com with that brand's logo, tone, and footer copy. The Notion brand keeps shipping from hello@notion-brand.com. Two storefronts with one admin, zero Shopify-Plus required.

What template creators actually use

Every Alva feature, angled for a template-creator catalogue.

01 / 06Links

Sell the URL, not a file.

A Notion template is a duplicate URL. A Figma file is a community link. A Webflow template is a clone URL. Alva turns each of these into a Shopify product with a per-order signed, IP-locked, expirable access token. The buyer clicks from the delivery email and lands straight on the duplicate prompt — no file download, no ZIP, no confusion.

02 / 06Versioning

Update v2 once. Past buyers get it.

Templates improve. Dashboards get new sections. CRMs grow new views. Replace the file (or the link) inside Alva for a product, and every past buyer's customer account page now surfaces the new version on their next visit. Alva's ZipVersionHistory keeps older versions retrievable too, in case a buyer prefers the previous layout.

03 / 06Licences

Personal vs commercial, per variant.

Two Shopify variants, two licence pools. Personal permits one workspace. Commercial permits use inside client projects or team workspaces. Each purchase pulls the next unique key and emails it alongside the template link. The licence text lands in the delivery email. If a buyer abuses the licence terms, the key is tied to the order for enforcement.

04 / 06Packs

Packs — the productivity stack.

Most template buyers would rather pay once for a suite than four times for components. Group a Life OS, CRM, content calendar, and goals dashboard into one "Productivity stack" product at a bundle price. Alva delivers every template on one signed page. Add more templates to the pack later — existing buyers pick them up automatically.

05 / 06Multi-brand

Run multiple template brands from one store.

Alva's per-product email settings override the global email template. A Notion brand ships delivery mail from one custom domain, logo, and tone; a Canva brand ships from another. One Shopify admin, two public identities, zero Shopify-Plus required. Creators running personal + agency catalogues find this unlocks separate brand aesthetics without paying for two stores.

06 / 06Portal

Customer account portal for re-downloads.

Buyers delete emails. They switch browsers. A year later they rejoin Notion and can't find the duplicate URL. Alva's customer account portal gives every buyer a permanent page showing every template they own, every version available, and a fresh signed link per click. This single feature collapses the bulk of template-creator support load.

Pricing, template-creator-sized

What plan does a real template catalogue need?

A Notion template is a link — zero bytes of storage. A Figma library is usually 1–10 MB. A Canva template pack is a handful of PDFs at 5–30 MB. A Webflow template ships as a .webflow export around 2–15 MB. That means a creator with 80 templates across all four platforms rarely exceeds 2 GB of storage. The binding constraint is unlocking per-product branded emails and commercial licence keys, not the byte budget.

PLANPRICEFITS
Free · 1.5 GB$0A new creator launching 5 Notion templates as links. No file storage needed; proves the direct-sales model before upgrading.
Basic · 35 GB$8.99/moA creator with 50–80 templates across Notion, Figma, and Canva. Unlocks licence keys for commercial tiers, custom email sender domain, and fraud protection.
Pro · 350 GB$18.99/moA creator running multiple template brands, shipping video walkthroughs alongside the templates, plus large Figma libraries. Recommended for multi-brand stores.
Enterprise · 1.5 TB$28.99/moA template agency with dozens of designers contributing, large library files, tutorial video bundles, and enterprise customer support.

Migration path

How do I migrate from Gumroad, Creative Market, Etsy, Notion Marketplace, or Payhip?

Template creators usually arrive at Alva Digital Downloads from one of five platforms — Gumroad, Creative Market, Etsy (digital listings), the Notion Marketplace, or Payhip. The migration playbook is the same: pull the buyer list, import the templates into Shopify with Alva, and re-offer access to past customers under the new store. Most creators complete the move in under 30 days.

  1. 01

    Export the buyer list.

Gumroad: Customers → Export CSV. Creative Market: Dashboard → Sales → Export. Etsy: Shop Manager → Settings → Options → Download Data → Orders CSV. Payhip: Customers → Export. Notion Marketplace: there's no native export, so scrape order confirmations or use the Notion Creator dashboard transaction list. Import every source into Shopify customers with a "migrated" tag so you can segment them for a re-buy email later.

  2. 02

Upload template files or paste Notion/Figma URLs.

For file-based templates (Canva PDFs, Webflow .webflow exports, Figma .fig files), drag them into Alva's uploader. For URL-based templates (Notion duplicates, Figma community URLs), paste them into the Links tab — one link per template.

  3. 03

Set up licence tiers on each Shopify product.

Create two variants per template — Personal and Commercial. Attach the matching licence pool to each via Alva's license-key tags. Replace your Gumroad-link-in-a-Notion-page setup with real Shopify product pages you can rank in Google.

  4. 04

Email the old list with a migration offer.

Send the imported Gumroad, Creative Market, Etsy, Payhip, or Notion Marketplace list a "we moved" email with a coupon. Existing buyers can optionally be issued a free access coupon for the templates they already paid for — many creators do this to keep goodwill while migrating. New traffic goes to the Shopify store going forward.

Typical merchant feedback

FAQ for template creators

Questions template creators actually ask.

Yes. Every buyer has a customer account page in the Shopify store listing every template they own. When the creator replaces the file with v2, every past buyer's download link now points to v2 — no emails to send, no support tickets. Alva's ZipVersionHistory also keeps previous versions retrievable if a buyer preferred the old layout.
Alva packs group multiple files or URL links under a single Shopify product. Sell a 'Full Notion productivity stack' bundling a life OS, a CRM, a content calendar, and a goals dashboard as one $79 pack. The buyer gets every template in a single signed download page. Add more templates to the pack later and existing buyers pick up the new ones through their customer account.
Use license key tags to split a template into 'Personal' and 'Commercial / Team' variants at different price points. Each variant pulls from its own licence pool. The commercial key permits use in client work or inside a team workspace; the personal key does not. The licence text lands in the delivery email alongside the template link, and every key is tied to the order for enforcement if disputed.
Yes. Alva's Links feature turns a Notion duplicate URL — or a Figma community link, Webflow clone URL, Framer remix URL — into a deliverable Shopify product. The link is signed per-order, IP-locked, expirable, and auto-revokes on refund. Buyers click the link from the delivery email and land directly on the Notion duplicate prompt, no download step.
Yes. Alva's per-product email settings let a creator run multiple 'brands' from a single Shopify store. A Notion-templates brand ships emails from one custom domain, design tone, and template copy; a Canva-templates brand ships from another. Shared admin, separate inboxes, separate fonts, separate logo — the buyer only ever sees the brand they bought from.
Yes. Export the customer email list from Gumroad (Customers → Export), Creative Market (Sales → Export), Etsy (Shop Manager → Download Data), or Payhip (Customers → Export). Notion Marketplace has no native export, so use the Notion Creator transaction list. Import into Shopify customers with a 'migrated' tag. Upload the template files into Alva, bind each template to a Shopify product with variants for personal vs commercial licences, and email the old list with a time-limited launch coupon. Most template creators complete the migration within 30 days.
